JOHN BURROUGHS TO CREATE TASK FORCE AS NCAA's NIL ERA ARRIVES

On July 1 the NCAA will allow college athletes to monetize their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). Athletes in all sports will be allowed to earn revenue without violating NCAA amateur policy restrictions.
The NCAA has already outlined some of the areas in which collegiate athletes can monetize, and more are expected to emerge.

John Burroughs School plans to be on the forefront of this legislation. The school is currently forming a "Task Force" to study NIL and its impact on college sports and college students.
According to Head Football Coach John Merritt, "we will form a committee of experts in the areas of College Sports, Sports Agency, Finance, Law, Marketing and Branding, Media and probably some other areas that I haven't even imagined yet."
Coach Merritt explained that JBS intends to call on the might of its parent and alumni network to study and learn about NIL. "The ultimate goal is to educate our students and their families." Merritt explained "We do everything we can to make sure that our students are prepared for their college experience, this is no different."
Burroughs expects to hold symposium in the spring if 2022 for college bound athletes regarding NIL its impact and ramifications.
